Maternal Instinct
The story begins with two neighbor couples next door houses that have a young and only small child of their own each. They have been close friends and caring to each other to the point of caring to their neighbor’s son of next door as if they not only to care for a best friend of their sons, but as another child of their own. They are living a life full of expectations with nice and loving comfortable houses, jobs, female home keeping, relatives and much space for both their sons to play at will and al happiness provided.
It seems all is doing well until something awfully tragic happens and nothing gets to be the same since then and with things greatly unpredictably escalating into a thrilling of mutual suspicion, despair, ridicule, insensitive thoughts and doings and unthinkable measures. Although, it is inconsiderable not to mention that these escalations are all the time with double ways of thinking on regards to the fact that one of the wives are having a paranoia and the other is reacting accordingly naturally with a plausible fairness or, with a retribution in another paranoia or, simply with an evil retribution. Both the men are becoming to fear for their wives’ attitudes until the final and uttermost breakdown that changes everything into a thrilling and unthinkable conclusion.
All in all, the plot gets to be the beacon of this movie that is very well adapted from a book. The cast, especially of the two wives are astonishing and beyond esteem. The time adaptation of the 60’s era is very well done despite not having the film there too many film making sets. The production is unknown to me, but for sure it isn’t of those of a high multimillion of the multimillion-dollar film productions of the decade. Finally, the highest prize from me goes to the job of edition of the scenes, for they make a tremendous set of escalating events to properly take place in a way that brings an intentional confusion on the spectators, on regards of what wife did what based on what condition to start with, and for the “reaction” or “retribution” of what.
For this movie: Maternal Instinct, I give it the score of 93, out of 100.
